metal signs / lac / PU-foam
linz / austria
These orange spheres are adjusted to some of the house facades in the City of Linz. They mark measuring,
i.e. height measuring points. The metal signs prohibit their removal or relocation. In Austria, which is a landlocked country, the height measuring system still refers to a time when the former
Austrian-Hungarian Monarchie had access to the sea in Molo Satorio, Trieste. They measure from the Adriatic sea level in 1875. All the other surrounding countries are refering to more recent
dates, which leads to the fact, that there are differences in height measuring between Austria and its neighbour countries.
In my project I doubled these orange marks and put another metal sign saying "Österreich lag mal am Meer"
(engl. "Austria was by the sea").
