Travessa de Liceiras 9 / Porto / Portugal
Installation of 72 ceramic tiles
January 2015
The windows and doors of this abandoned house in Porto / Portugal have been completely shut with cement blocks.
In order to quote the tradition of tile facade decoration in the country on the one hand and give the hollow and viewless house a new perspective on the other I covered this "new part of the
house's facade" with 72 tiles – showing an outdoor-scene of a man standing in the rain to even enhance the absurdity a house with blocked windows and doors already has. I decided to switch inside
and outside in this case.
I took the original windowframe out, installed my tiles and put the frame back on as gently as possible.
